How we supervise our mentors

Who Are Our Supervisors?

At Somethings, we believe that every teenager struggling with mental health deserves dedicated and compassionate support. To uphold the highest standards of care, we have an exceptional team of supervisors who play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of your child. This is a brief introduction to our supervisors, their qualifications, and their responsibilities, all of which are designed to give you more clarity and insight into how we provide a safe space for teenagers.

Our Supervisors: Experienced, Empathetic, and Caring

At the heart of our mentorship program, you'll find our exceptional supervisors. Each supervisor is carefully selected based on their extensive experience and expertise in peer support. Our requirement is that supervisors have over four years of experience in peer support. This follows the protocols set forth for supervision at hotlines and warmlines accredited by the International Council for Helplines. It also ensures that your teenager is in the hands of someone who truly understands the challenges they face and can empathize with their journey.

How Supervision Works: A Collaborative Approach

Supervision is not a one-size-fits-all process at Somethings. It's a collaborative approach where supervisors work hand-in-hand with our mentors and clinicians to provide the best possible care for your child. Here's how it works:

1. Regular Check-Ins: Our supervisors conduct regular check-ins with each mentor to review their progress, address any concerns, and ensure the mentorship relationship is thriving. These check-ins are crucial for keeping track of the mental health support provided to your child.

2. Escalations and Crisis Management: In case of any critical situation or escalation, our supervisors are well-prepared to handle it with sensitivity and urgency. They follow a structured protocol to ensure immediate support and care are provided to your teenager, while also keeping you informed about the situation. You can see our escalation protocol at somethings.com/escalation-policy

3. Dashboard Tracking: One of the most powerful tools our supervisors have at their disposal is the Somethings dashboard. This sophisticated platform provides valuable insights into the mentorship relationships, enabling our supervisors to track and assess various aspects of the support provided to your child.

Through the dashboard, supervisors can monitor the frequency and quality of interactions between mentors and teenagers. They can identify patterns and trends that help them gauge the effectiveness of the mentorship and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

The dashboard also assists our supervisors in identifying potential areas of concern or escalations. They receive automated alerts if a situation requires immediate attention, allowing them to act promptly and ensure your teenager receives the necessary support in a crisis.

4. Collaboration with Clinical Team: Our supervisors work in close coordination with our clinical team to ensure a holistic approach to your teenager's mental health. They seek advice and guidance from our experienced clinicians to make informed decisions for your child's well-being. The clinical team works to give mentors tools and strategies to help them be most effective in their mentorships.

Your child's safety is our #1 priority

At Somethings, we understand that trust is essential when it comes to your teenager's mental health. With their experience, compassion, and commitment to excellence, you can rest assured that your child is in the care of a trusted mentor and supervisor.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our supervision process, feel free to reach out to us. We are here to support you and your teenager on their journey to improved mental well-being.
